How do you make a barbershop a permanent neighborhood fixture?

Remix the iconic gentlemens’ hangout with a pop culture beat.

Our Creative Director helped launch a barber in a multi-family development (couch-to-cut).

His branding captured all of the comfort of the old school haunt: the lounge chairs, the aprons, and the cigar-box smells.

He also brought some new school ideas to the shop: good music, a style store, and drinks in the lounge.

How did it all land in Uptown? Visitors travel far and wide for the Public Barber experience.

The Public Barber

High and tight. A tapered, timeless, brand.

Inside The Public Barber, the smell of freshly groomed men hangs in the air; it’s a mixture of talc, hair product, and Barbicide. The door is open and jazz spills out onto the street. Owner Michael Stejskal offers up Dixie cups of whiskey from a vintage decanter.

We worked with Michael to develop a brand that sits proudly and humble in to the diverse, every-changing, Uptown, Chicago, neighborhood.  Uptown's rich, historic, culture, embraced the Public Barber as it's own.

Michael wanted a space that didn't belong to one person or one type of person, but a place that accepts anyone and everyone.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
